In less than ninety days the last long weekend of the summer will be behind us and the city will be bustling with increased tourist activity.

Brandon has been chosen to host three major sport events in one weekend, with the Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track and Field event happening at the Sportsplex from August 10th – 13th, Western Canadian U18 Baseball tournament at Andrews Field from the 10th – 13th and the Western Canadian U16 Softball tournament at the Ashley Neufeld softball complex from the 11th to the 13th as well.  The following week the National Arabian and Half Arabian Horse Show is on at the Keystone Centre.

Brandon First anticipates that this influx of athletes to our community will mean full hotels, busy restaurants and higher than usual traffic volumes in some of our main thoroughfares.

As such, we wanted to send out a “heads up” to local businesses that these events are coming so staff schedules etc. can be prepared with the possibility of being that much busier in mind.

We hope everyone is able to reap the economic benefit of these types of events coming to Brandon, and will continue to bring the best we can find. At the same time we would like to thank our community partners for your support of Brandon First, and your commitment to providing quality products and services to both our citizens and tourists. It’s what makes Brandon such an appealing event destination.
